Theses are descended from specimens collected in Glades, Hendry, and Palm Beach Counties. The yellow Rats in this area tend to have lighter stripes and develop adult coloration faster then those from more northern parts of their range. This could be from rossalleni genetic influence. The color can range from a light lemon yellow to orange. I'm not sure whether its genetic, or just that food is so abundant, but many wild rat snakes in this area attain huge proportions, with the record specimen exceeding eight feet in length!
